FC Barcelona to Host Historic Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in domestic competition 30 months since relocating to allow renovations to start.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present as per the current authorization. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, a rise from the old capacity. Barça announced completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
The club conducted a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch in early November. The club said they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt next month at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
