The relatives of teenagers lost after a devastating blaze at a venue in a Switzerland's winter destination are enduring an painful wait for answers and requesting information about their children via social media.

The fire ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of the first day of the year. Confirmed footage show the ceiling catching alight as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.

Officials have stated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the those who perished of the fire, which claimed the lives of numerous partygoers and wounded another scores more.
